Day 334

Half way point. I probably would have done more but I thought I made a mistake so I had to undo a few lines only to find out that I had done everything right... My aunt stopped me in time because i was was going to undo the whole thing. :(
LOL and I just noticed that it looks like there is a square missing from the left leaf.. but it seems there was white under it, the open square is actually there.:D  Ahhh the joys of learning.

Day 330

Today's creativity was 3fold. At my mom's request I took out my sewing machine that I haven't used in a few years, and stitched a quilt that was cut in half so my mom can use it to cover her couches.  Since I had the sewing machine out I decided to just attempt to cover my living room pillows that were pink and peach to better match the decor of the room.  It was a nice diversion from making jewelry and I loved the end result.

Day 329 Very Ambitious

So I listened to my aunt, who has been crocheting all her life and used the thinner thread to do a crochet panel approximately 20x12 even though it called for a thicker one.  It took me up to a few min ago to find out that it is too tedious, and its not working out ...  but it was a good experience and I learned that i can do a long chain extra firm that made my double crochet really difficult to work with. I might continue tomorrow and see if I can actually do this or just start something new with this thread.
Lesson learned.

Day 328

Today I learned how to crochet. My aunt who taught me how to make the lace when I was 13 taught me this 30 years later ... So this is my first attempt (in between cooking and uploading things to my etsy store... Running a big sale Black Friday to Cyber Monday so check my page out http://www.etsy.com/shop/MoonSirens
The few first lines were my aunts and and then you can see how I started and where I ended. The heart was just me fooling around with what I learned. In the morning sis is going to find one of her books of patterns so I can practice some more.

Day 324

Bibila (Venetian Lace earrings)
So I made the lace pieces into earrings. I first dipped each piece in a glaze to make them stiff and water resistant, bedazzled the center and added a dangle bead to assist with the movement. Sis took the multi colored one ...

Day 323

I love making these domino pendants. I first made them about 6 years ago by accident. I was working on my stamped dominoes - i had read an article on them and thought it was a great idea- and while I was refiling one of my art pens some of the ink fell on a domino.. the rest is history.  I heat set the inks once I am happy with my mini painting and then cover it with an epoxy/resin (which I apply by hand on each tile) for protection. Hope you visit my etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop/MoonSirens or http://www.indigomoonmarlton.com to find wearable art pieces for your holiday gifts!

Day 322

Bibila - Venetian lace
My aunt arrived from Greece on Wed. I got to spend yesterday and today with her. Along with the non stop gabbing and cooking I made a few pieces of Venetian lace. My Aunt Nikki taught me how do make this when I was 13 one summer in Greece. It requires patience and I just love love making them. These are the also the ones I used to cover the hole in my sneaker, just in a different color. I don't know what I will make in the end, but my goal is to be able to make  a big round one... it requires more points  and rows.  Aunt was so happy that I not only remember but continue to make these. What I like the most about it is that I only need thread ( I use DMC #80- aunt said a bit thicker would be good too so i might switch to 70 or 60) and a needle. That is it. So I took it with me while sis was at therapy - it was a great conversation piece :D and time went fast.

Day 321

Frustration
Oufffff....
Long day- So others don't trust that I will make correct decisions, but it has nothing to do with me. I finally get it that its because they don't trust themselves they project that on others. And today I was the lucky one on the receiving end. Lesson learned. Handled appropriately and with a smile. At least in front of them.
Tomorrow is another day and looking forward to it.
