Day 365 (A year full of creativity)

365 days ago I decided to make a New Years resolution that was different than any other one. One that I would not forget or let go of by the end of the month.
And what a year it turned out to be.
Even through the ups and downs everyday without fail I created something. Sometimes I created more than one, other times one project took more than one day to complete. The goal was to put in the time to make something. That January morning when I woke up at the crack of dawn to make my first creation I never imagined that, that specific decision would have such a drastic and deep effect in my life. And I never thought that out of this experience I would get to meet new friends from all over the world.
As another year is starting I decided to continue creating. This time I am going to allow longer projects to count too so I can work on my Oils that I have neglected :D  The goal will be to have a cohesive  body of work that can be presented to a gallery. Oh.. and make prints of a couple of my paintings :D
I can't thank all of you who followed me, and cheered me on through this process. You made the ride so much more enjoyable and I hope we have even more fun in 2012!

Leaving the past behind

With the year ending everyone is focused and what goals were met and what lessons were learned. 2011 was a year filled with challenges for most of the planet. I personally don't want to dwell on that.
I also worked on the lace of the second crochet piece but it is taking time... because it is finer. I really want to have it done before midnight tomorrow. Crossing fingers it will get done.

Sunrise

Woke up early and caught the sunrise so I tested the new UV lens filter. In the evening I met up with my aunt who showed me how to add the lace to my crochet piece. It takes 3times  going around the whole piece. So I am doing it on the original thicker thread one and then will go to my smaller piece to complete that too. I would love to have both done by the end of the year. Means I should work fast!

Christmas Day was wonderful. Got to spend it with family and sister managed to stay awake a bit longer today but still in pain. Today's painting was inspired by the wonderful sunrise  this morning.One of my gifts was a uv lense for my camera . While testing the camera with the sun and lights I captured the beautiful images above.  I only adjusted the size but didn't touch the color or brightness.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas

My mini tree all lit up. I love watching the glow from the lights in a darkened room with Christmas music playing in the background. I have to admit I miss the pine smell of a real tree and I forgot to buy some pine spray or oil to give the illusion of a real tree.

With the festivities, Dad's birthday today and Sis's recovery from surgery I forgot to post yesterday
the completion of the crochet piece.  Am very very proud of this piece as it took many hours to make and turned out  beautiful. So now aunt and I are debating if we should make a small lace border or a thicker one and use it as coffee table runner. Ahhh the decisions.

I had a very long day.  Went to bed at 2:30AM and woke up at 5am. Took sis to hospital at 6:30am and didn't  get home till 5pm. It is now 2:30am on the 23rd and sis just fell asleep. The operation went smoothly and her hardware removed. She is in pain and can't put any weight on her foot for another 6 weeks.
I did my crochet at the hospital and I am 5 lines away from finishing!  I got many complements on it at the waiting room :D and thank God i took it with me as we were there all day.

Under Full Moon Light

I get a gorgeous view of the moon rising many nights of the year. And I still remember the feeling I got by watching the moonlight  in the woods behind my house.  It is a theme that I enjoy to paint over and over again.

Today I decided to do some wire wrapping.  Will be posting them on etsy shortly!
On another note, my mom fell in love with my crochet piece she asked me to make her one too but with finer thread ... so I started it with a size 20 thread and size 16 steel crochet hook....

The crochet hook belonged to my grandmother who made lots of dowry pieces for both sis and I.
Looks like this one will take a while to complete :D

After showing properties I ran over to AC Moore and got my thread! I thought I would have enough time to finish it today... but I didn't manage my activities correctly.

I ran out of  thread for my crochet so I worked on my lace. I used diamond glaze to seal the thread
and make it water resistant , bedazzled and used Sterling silver wire and components and  swarovski crystals for extra sparkle!
Will put them in my Etsy store tomorrow :D
